Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

This policy explains what CompetitorBase ("we", "us") collects, what we do with it, and what we never touch. CompetitorBase is a service that points AI agents at the competitors you name, re-reads their public web presence every day, and emails you when something meaningful moves. It should be read alongside our Terms of Use.

What We Collect

What We Monitor On Your Behalf

On your instruction, our agents read the public web presence of the domains you name: their website and its copy, pricing pages, visible advertising, SEO and backlink signals, public social accounts, press coverage, and public reviews. We read what any visitor could read. We do not log into anything, we do not buy or scrape private data, and we do not build profiles of the individuals who happen to work at those companies.

How We Use It

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered into Stripe's own hosted fields and go to Stripe, not to us. We never receive or store card numbers. What we store is a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status. Signing up starts a 3-day free trial; after it, the plan you chose bills monthly ($29 Starter, $59 Pro or $199 Scale), and you can cancel at any time from your billing page.

AI Processing

The service uses third-party AI model providers to read the pages our agents fetch, classify what they find, and judge whether a change matters enough to email you. The public page content we gather, along with the domains you entered, is sent to those providers for that processing. We use them under terms that prohibit training their general models on data submitted through their business APIs.

Analytics

Our analytics are first-party and self-hosted: a signup or a page view is recorded on our own server. We run no third-party advertising trackers, no ad pixels, and no cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for behavioural advertising.

How We Share Information

We share information only with the service providers that make the product work, and only as far as they need it:

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to enforce our terms, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets, in which case we will take reasonable steps to keep this policy applying to it. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate; where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data Retention

Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and legal compliance. Scan snapshots are working history, not an archive: we keep a bounded run of the most recent ones per domain and prune the rest. Anonymous reports generated before anyone signed up are short-lived and cleared periodically. Ask us to delete your account and we delete or anonymise your data, keeping only what the law requires.

Security

We protect information with encryption in transit, signed session cookies, single-use time-limited login links, access controls on our systems, and by leaving card handling entirely to Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.

Cookies

We use cookies sparingly. The service sets a signed session cookie that keeps you logged in, and a small cookie remembering which workspace you last had open. Both are necessary for the product to function. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to stay signed in.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal information, to request a portable copy, and to withdraw consent where processing rests on it. To exercise any of these, email hello@competitorbase.com. We respond within the time applicable law requires, and we will not treat you worse for asking. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

CompetitorBase is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, or under the minimum age required in their country. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email hello@competitorbase.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the date above. Changes take effect when posted.
